NEW YORK David Baldwin, executive creative director at McKinney + Silver in Raleigh, N.C., has been named president of The One Club for Art and Copy, the nonprofit creative organization said on Tuesday.

Baldwin, 40, will serve a three-year term beginning Friday. He succeeds John Butler, creative director at Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners in Sausalito, Calif. His chief duties will be to oversee the board of directors of the New York-based organization, which sponsors The One Show, an annual awards ceremony honoring creative excellence in advertising and design.

During his term, Baldwin, who has been a judge at The One Show and served on the club's board of directors, hopes to expand the benefits of being a One Club member to those outside of New York.

"We've talked about a number of things we can do, and one of the first things we talked about is doing [student] portfolio reviews around the country," Baldwin said. "They're invaluable to young people, and it's a great way to see work."

Baldwin also plans to look into ways of expanding The One Show.

"By launching The One Show Interactive and The One Show Rx, The One Club has kept on its mission to reward creative excellence at every level," he said. "We want to look for new opportunities and new [media] to reward, like guerilla marketing."

"David is one of those individuals who has always contributed time to The One Club, by doing creative work for us and reviewing portfolios," said Mary Warlick, executive director of The One Club. "He has a real passion for the industry."

The One Club will hold The One Show on Friday in New York.
