CHICAGO Northwestern Mutual Financial Network has winnowed its review to five finalists vying for its $20 million advertising account, currently at WPP Group’s JWT here, according to sources.

In addition to the incumbent, contenders for the account are: Omnicom Group’s BBDO and Downtown Partners, both Chicago, and independents Cramer-Krasselt and Hoffman York, which have offices in Chicago and Milwaukee, where the client is based. Chicago consultant Jones Lundin Beals is conducting the review.

Agency and consultant representatives referred calls to the client.
