Ammirati Hires Doyle for Compaq NEW YORK--Patricia Doyle has joined Ammirati Puris Lintas here as executive vice president, account and strategic services worldwide on the Compaq Computer business. She reports to Steve Gardner, president of the agency's New York office. Doyle previously served as senior vice president, executive group director on the IBM account at Ogilvy & Mather, New York. JWT Secures More Ford Dealer Business DETROIT--J. Walter Thompson here has been chosen over Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, to handle the $25 million account of the New England Ford Dealers Association. JWT is scheduled to pitch the Greater Michigan group's $10-15 million account later this week and the Washington, D.C., dealers $10 million account in early February. Carmichael Close to Deal With IPG CHICAGO--Carmichael Lynch last week said it is in negotiations to be acquired by The Interpublic Group of Cos. The Minneapolis agency has approximately $200 million in billings and counts Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Harrah's Entertainment and Boston Beer Co. among its clients. Contenders Emerge in Pfizer Review NEW YORK--Five agencies are vying for the responsibility to craft a corporate campaign for New York-based Pfizer, sources said. In addition to incumbent Bozell Worldwide, contenders for the estimated $10-15 million account are Merkley Newman Harty; Gotham; Hill, Holliday/Altschiller; and Jerry & Ketchum, all New York. Eastpak in Play; N.Y. Shops Contacted NEW YORK--Eastpak is seeking an agency to create domestic and overseas advertising, sources said. The review for the $1-2 million account is being handled by Tess Robinson of Marketing Project Solutions in New York. The Lowell, Mass.-based company last month split with Clarke Goward in Boston. TBWA Chiat/Day Wins Bali Business NEW YORK--TBWA Chiat/Day here, which creates ads for Sara Lee Corp.'s Wonderbra, was chosen last week to develop strategy and create ads for Bali underwear. The Chicago-based client spends $5 million on ads for both brands. Ammirati Puris Lintas here will continue to buy media for Bali. Goodyear Reviews Overseas Account CHICAGO--Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio, has opened a review for its estimated $25 million account covering South America and Asia. That business was pulled last month from Leo Burnett, Chicago, in response to a racially offensive TV spot created by Causa Publicidad, Burnett's affiliate agency in Peru. The company declined to name participants. J. Walter Thompson, whose Detroit office handles Goodyear in the U.S., is expected to participate. Leap Readies Michelob Effort CHICAGO--A campaign for Michelob beer from The Leap Partnership here will debut during next month's telecast of the Winter Olympics and use the tagline, "Beer . . . or Michelob?" Leap was awarded the business by Anheuser-Busch in October. Spending on the brand will be increased this year to $30 million, according to the client. Ammirati Names Chicago President CHICAGO--Ammirati Puris Lintas here has tapped Brad Brinegar, former senior vice president and account director at Leo Burnett here, as president.
