The Business and Emerging Technologies Assistance Network (BETA) has initiated an e-mail effort to lure high-tech workers back to Maine.

Tagged, “It’s time to come home,” the campaign is backed by Gov. Angus King and key players from Maine’s high-tech sector, including Resort Sports Network (RSN), I-Many, Fairchild Semiconductor and Wright Express, all members of BETA. The Group is an alliance of Maine business, education and government entities. The initial e-mail was sent to friends and family with high-tech experience.

The e-mail stated that 1,600 firms in Maine support significant IT employment, and more than 9,000 new jobs are expected to be created in Maine by 2005.
