After 20 years as lead agency for Hanes, Mullen/LHC will no longer represent the client.

A representative of the Winston-Salem, N.C., shop confirmed that the agency, formerly Long Haymes Carr, will not participate in the ongoing review for the account of the crosstown underwear marketer, a division of Sara Lee Corp.

“We feel our resources are better spent on current clients,” said the spokesperson.

IPG merged LHC into Mullen of Wenham, Mass., earlier this year, triggering a series of client defections that now includes Alabama Power and Thomasville Furniture.

The review for Hanes’ estimated $15 million account was originally open to Sara Lee roster shops, a restriction that may be easing, sources said.
