Rapid Growth Ignites Numerous Creative Promotions, Additions
BOSTON--To keep pace with its growing client roster, Mullen has added nine staffers and promoted four others in its creative department.
"When you grow, you are asking existing people to play a bigger role and rewarding them," said creative director Edward Boches.
Michael Ancevic and Stephen Mietelski have been promoted to vice presidents and associate creative directors, reporting directly to Boches. They had been senior art director and senior copywriter, respectively.
Mietelski and Ancevic were hired from McCann-Erickson, San Francisco, two years ago. The two describe themselves as "yin and yang," with Mietelski the excitable one and Ancevic more mellow.
At Mullen, they have created TV spots for Nextel wireless telecommunications, one of the Wenham, Mass., shop's showpiece accounts.
Their new responsibilities will include multimedia work for recent client addition hifi.com, the e-commerce initiative from high-end audio retailer Cambridge SoundWorks.
"They are ready to take on more and run their pieces of business with autonomy," Boches said. "We hire bright, motivated people and get out of their way."
Senior designers Ginger Hood and Libby DeLana have been promoted to vice presidents and associate design directors.
Senior copywriter Bob Goodman has joined Mullen from Net Marquee, an Internet direct marketing company in Needham, Mass., and is working on Web projects for MSNBC and Monster.com.
Copywriter Michael Calienes returns to Mullen after a brief stint at Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown, Mass. He is contributing to Nextel and Northern Light Technology.
Copywriter Mark Moll, formerly of Arnold Communications, Boston, and senior art director Rich Wallace, formerly of Ingalls, also Boston, have been hired to work as a team on accounts such as The Stanley Works and Oxygen Media.
Senior art director Julian Pugsley has joined from Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners in New York. Brian Hayes, formerly a copywriter at Ingalls, has also come aboard. Both will work on L.L. Bean, among others.
