Deutsch in New York has appointed Liz Bratman senior vice president, director of broadcast buying for both network and local broadcast; she was previously senior vice president/local broadcast director at Creative Media. In addition, the shop named Robin Lander senior vice president, director of human resources and development; she was most recently vice president, human resources director in private banking at Citigroup.
Gateway, a marketer of PCs and technology solutions, has named Stuart Redsun vice president of advertising and promotions for its consumer division, based at the company's San Diego headquarters. Redsun joins from Nike, where he worked for 11 years. He is responsible for all U.S. consumer-branding efforts and media strategy for Gateway and reports to David Turner, vice president of marketing for Gateway's consumer division. McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, is lead creative agency for Gateway.
Peter Tate, a 22-year veteran of DDB Worldwide and, since 1997, president of DDB, New York, has been promoted to chairman of DDB, New York, effective immediately. Tate, 53, will continue to manage existing client relationships, said Ken Kaess, president of DDB Worldwide. Chief operating officer John Berg has been promoted to replace Tate as president, and to report to him. Berg, 38, joined DDB in January from Wenner Media, where he was group publisher in charge of repositioning Rolling Stone magazine. DDB recently laid off 5 percent of its New York staff after losing the $300 million Compaq account and was restructuring staff so that Berg could take over as president.
141 Integrated Communications North America, New York, a division of Bates Worldwide's global marketing-services network, 141 Worldwide, London, has made several management changes. John Marchese has announced his resignation as chairman, 141 Integrated Communications North America; he is leaving to launch his own integrated-marketing and digitalcontent consultancy. Ed Aroyan, who rejoined Bates last month as executive vice president, account management on the Bestfoods business, will manage the 141 operation for an interim period, in addition to maintaining his duties on Bestfoods. Victor Mazzeo has been named executive creative director at 141, a new post; he was previously a vice president, creative director at Bates USA, New York.
Young & Rubicam's Intelligence Factory, New York, has named Jaime Kalfus executive vice president in charge of custom research. She was formerly at Y&R San Francisco, heading account planning and leading successful new-business pitches for My Talk and Nature's Way.
Ketchum has named Ray Cuciniello senior vice president/global human resources. Before joining the New York shop, he had worked at PaineWebber, where he played a key role in permanent, temporary and campus recruiting and served as co-chair on the firmwide Diversity Recruitment Task Force.
BSMG Worldwide has promoted Gail Heimann to the new position of president of the firm's Global Consumer Marketing practice. Heimann, a BSMG Worldwide partner, has driven its New York-based consumer practice, which handles major assignments for clients including Dunkin' Donuts, Hewlett-Packard and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Eric Mower and Associates has hired three new staffers at its Rochester office. Margaret Jones was appointed media buyer; she had formerly worked at Ryan Communications. Scott Schuman was named production manager; he was most recently a production manager at Forward Design. John Richelsen has arrived as an account supervisor; he formerly was employed at Concentrix Corp. in Rochester.
Pedone & Partners has named David Simpson senior vice president, responsible for business development. Before joining the New York agency, he was executive vice president for new business and account management at Trone Advertising in New York.
Ellenson Group in New York has appointed Richard Powell senior copywriter. He had previously worked for various San Francisco agencies, such as Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Publicis/Hal Riney & Partners, Goldberg Moser O'Neill and Citron Haligman BedecarrE.
Posner Advertising has named Martin Shaw creative director. Prior to joining the New York agency, he had served as a consulting creative director for the past two years on various campaigns, including ones for The Wiz, Tourneau and Cosmetics Plus.
MRA has promoted two staffers. Shannon Moth was elevated to account executive at the Syracuse agency, responsible for account management and implementation of advertising, marketing and budgeting activities for Welch Allyn and Syracuse Stage. Amy Meyers has been promoted to media coordinator, responsible for assisting the media department via reconciling invoices and updating reference materials and contracts with software providers.
KWE Associates has promoted Kristen Bishop to vice president. She was formerly group director at the New York agency.
Communications/Marketing Action has hired Virginia Lee as account manager in the business-to-business/Internet practice area; prior to joining the New York company, she served as a marketing services manager with Ruder Finn. Additionally, CMA promoted Erica Klump to senior account executive, heading up the consumer/lifestyle team.
Spontaneous Combustion has promoted Sam DeWitt to creative director. Most recently, he was head of CGI at the New York-based digital studio.
The MTVi Group, New York, has appointed Paul Greenberg vice president of new business development. Previously, he worked in business development for MTV Networks and MTV Networks' affiliate sales and marketing.
Emap usa, New York, has hired Audrey Margolies as FHM magazine's advertising director, with responsibilities for building ad sales in the fashion, beverage, technology and other consumer-product areas. She was previously associate publisher at Mirabella magazine.
CMP Media in Manhasset has named Richard Wallace managing director of CMP's Electronics Design and Technology Network, responsible for all business and content development for the EDTN network, among other responsibilities. He also retains his duties as vice president and editorial director for CMP's Electronics Group.
