HAWAII Norma Basteris joined AdWorks, Honolulu, as media director working with such clients as Kahala Mall, Budget, Daiei and Queens/HMSA. NEVADA Shonkwiler-Marcoux Advertising & Public Relations, Las Vegas, has added five new employees: graphic designers Cindy Koppy, Jamie Orkin and Jeremy Grubaugh; copywriter Matthew Lea; and account coordinator Patricia Sparks. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Edwin McKelpin joined Ivarson Design Group of San Anselmo as a senior designer. Lodging Hospitality appointed Jim Murphy regional manager at its Burlingame office. OREGON Columbia Sportswear Company, Portland, hired Jay Braverman to fill the newly created position of senior graphics designer. Babcock & Jenkins Direct, Beaverton, promoted Heather Linn to account executive; Josh Siler to manager of interactive services; and Laura Cox to manager of account services. Leopold Ketel & Partners, Portland, hired Simona Bortis as a graphic designer. North By Northwest Advertising in Portland announced that Tom Bacon has been made a senior partner, creative director, and Wayne D. Modica has been named senior partner, managing director. In addition, the agency, previously known as North By Northwest Direct, hired Angie Burk as account executive and promoted Cara Stacey to assistant account executive. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Tony Dunaif was promoted to the newly created position of vice president, market development, for MTV Networks in Santa Monica. Dunaif, who previously served as director of market development, will now be responsible for sales and marketing for all the MTV Networks. Gail Waters and Annette Steiner joined Hunter Barth Advertising in Irvine as senior account manager and senior art director/creative director, respectively. Wiley & Associates, Westlake Village, hired Denise Miller as copywriter and Corine Krogman as director of account planning. Alhman & Associates, Westlake Village, appointed John Johnson creative director. Nicole Gipson was promoted to senior account executive at The Blaze Company in Venice. Bruce Kukuk was named account executive on the Honda national advertising account team at Rubin Postaer and Associates in Santa Monica.
