In a move that surprised the recently named finalists in the $80-100 million Bank of America consolidation review, the client has issued a second invitation giving additional shops a chance to pitch the media buying portion of the business.
The move followed the selection last month of two finalists for the combined business of the newly merged NationsBank and BofA: the pitch team of True North shops Bozell Worldwide, New York, with Temerlin McClain, Irving, Texas, and Lowe & Partners/SMS, New York (see related item, page 12).
Sources said those shops believed their scheduled final presentations next month would include recommendations from sister media shops TN Media for the Bozell team and the newly formed Western:Initiative Media Worldwide for Lowe.
Sources said TN and Western:Initiative were among 10 recipients of the new request for information sent by BofA national media director Winifred Lee last week.
