Deutsch is using slices of real life in a campaign featuring the “disappearance” of fictional Tanqueray pitchman Mr. Jenkins.
In a print ad resembling a newspaper spread and a flier that apes a missing persons poster (shown here), the New York agency has embarked on a road that will take many twists and turns.
The next ad–a desperate plea from Jenkins’ “employer,” Schieffelin & Somerset–breaks this week. Since surprise is integral to the campaign, however, group creative director Craig Marcus offered scant detail.
