Merrill, Schwartz Rule Bell Ringer Awards

BOSTON Sharon Merrill Associates won best of show and Schwartz Communica-
tions took home the most total prizes at the annual Bell Ringer Awards for excellence in New England public relations.

Boston-based Sharon Merrill, an independent shop, won the Super Bell prize for investor relations efforts on behalf of client Oxigene.

Other big winners were: Schwartz in Waltham, Mass., which took 11 Bells; Pan Communications in Andover, Mass., which won eight Bells; RDW Group in Providence, R.I., with seven Bells; and Cone in Boston and Mintz & Hoke in Avon, Conn., which won four Bells each.

The show is sponsored by the Publicity Club of New England. It was held Tuesday night at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass. More than 300 industry professionals and clients attended.
