SAN FRANCISCO Interpublic Group's McCann Erickson here will replace departing evp, co-cd Kevin Moehlenkamp with John McNeil of Ogilvy & Mather, a McCann representative has confirmed.

McNeil, 34, will be part of the team that heads up the shop's nearly $500 million Microsoft account.

McNeil has been hired as executive vice president and co-chief creative officer, said Courtney Buechert, executive vice president and general manager of McCann in San Francisco. At Ogilvy & Mather in New York, McNeil was senior partner and creative director for the IBM, Kodak, DuPont and Lycos accounts, among others.

At McCann, McNeil will partner with Jeff Huggins, also an evp and co-cd, as the pair leads the creative direction of the agency.

"Knowing John's personality, knowing the work he has done and the experience he has gained in eight years on IBM, we knew right away he was the guy we wanted," said Huggins.

Moehlenkamp, 40, will stay at McCann through year's end. He was behind the successful Microsoft "Realizing potential" campaign that used the tagline, "Your potential. Our passion."
