Microsoft’s corporate-image account was for many years “the big fish” that was out of reach for Jeff Huggins.

Huggins, a copywriter by trade, worked on product ads for the client in the mid-1990s as cd at Anderson & Lembke and then McCann-Erickson. But he and group account director Courtney Buechert envisioned the work they could do if they had the image duties, then at Wieden + Kennedy. “We spent a lot of time imagining and fantasizing about what would happen if we had the whole brand and could do what we wanted,” Huggins said.

Huggins left McCann for Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in 1996, three years before Microsoft consolidated its $400 million account at McCann.
