Maxfli Golf has quietly awarded its advertising business to Erwin-Penland.

The assignment in-cludes Maxfli’s line of golf balls and Slazenger’s sportswear.

The account represents the offshoot of the $10 million Dunlop/Sla-zenger advertising business, which Mullen/LHC in Winston-Salem, N.C., won in a September 2000 review that included seven Southeastern shops and GSD&M in Austin, Texas.

Sources said the Greenville, S.C.-based client split with Mullen/LHC last month because most of LHC’s original management team had left the agency.

The golf ball maker has a history of bouncing from one shop to another.
