Martin's Olympus Spot to Bookend PBS Shows

ATLANTA Olympus America plans to break television advertising next month as part of its sponsorship of They Made America, a Public Broadcasting Service series on American business innovation scheduled to begin Nov. 8, the company said.

Fifteen- and 30-second spots were produced by The Martin Agency. The Richmond, Va., Interpublic Group shop has handled the company's consumer electronics advertising for the past two years. The 15-second ad will air at the beginning and end of each of the four episodes of the program. The 30-second commercial will be included in the DVD recording of the series.

The four-part PBS series dramatizes the lives of the men and women whose inventions changed the nation and the world. The series is based on the book, They Made America: From the Steam Engine to the Search Engine: Two Centuries of Innovators, by Sir Harold Evans, a British historian and author.

The company also launched a mobile product showroom earlier this month that will travel throughout the U.S. this year. The traveling exhibit will demonstrate the company's healthcare and consumer electronics products.
