DALLAS--Dallas agency veteran Mike Maccioli has taken a creative director's post at Meyer & Johnson here, ending an 18-month run as co-creative director at The Wyatt Group.
Maccioli will work primarily on Meyer & Johnson's general ad accounts, which include U.S. Telco and Special Release, a gun lock manufacturer.
Maccioli said he worked briefly with Meyer & Johnson (M&J) on a project basis before accepting a job at The Wyatt Group, also in Dallas. At Wyatt, Maccioli shared the creative director's title with agency owner Mark Wyatt.
'My goal at Wyatt was to become a partner, and it just didn't work out as I'd expected,' Maccioli said. '(M&J principals Mike Meyer and Bill Johnson) eventually made me an offer that was too good to pass up.'
Maccioli, who reports to Johnson, said he will take an active role in luring new creative talent to M&J, which reported 1996 billings of $49 million.
The Dallas agency's bedrock account is The Associates, a financial services company in Irving, Texas. Much of the agency's work for that client falls in the direct marketing arena, Maccioli said.
'Mike Meyer's goal is to build the general advertising side of the business here, and I think there's an opportunity for us to become a regional powerhouse,' Maccioli explained. 'We're one of several firms in Dallas poised to take the next step as far as growth is concerned.'
Before joining Wyatt, Maccioli was a partner in another Dallas company, O'Connor Maccioli. He also held a creative director's post at Levenson & Hill in Dallas.
