Chris Lydon, a veteran planning director at Lowe Lintas & Partners, has been named svp and director of planning for Highway One here.

The hire finalizes a new management team that also includes CEO David Brown and executive creative director and svp Chris Matyszczyk.

Andrea Metzler, the founder and president of the shop, died recently of breast cancer.

"This is a new position for us. It shows we're committed to making consumer insights the heart of our agency," Brown said. "Chris has exceptional consumer-brand experience and the ability to work with a wide range of media."

While at Lowe, Lydon worked on the Eddie Bauer account in the U.S., Japan and Europe. She also worked with Oral B and ESPN.

"Chris is a perfect fit because she's a broad conceptual thinker and an expert in consumer behavior," Brown said. "She can see the forest and the trees."

Lydon began her career in advertising at Lord, Dentsu & Partners in New York, where she worked on such brands as TDK, Colgate and Maybelline. She later worked at FCB Worldwide in San Francisco on such accounts as Dockers, Slates and Levi's Silvertab. She is a native of San Francisco.

Brown was named CEO last year after more than a decade at OgilvyOne. He has worked with such accounts as Ameritrade, Pacific Bell and GTE.

Highway One is a subsidiary of D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and Bcom3. The shop has worked with such clients as OneBody.com.
