ATLANTA The Mobile Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has selected Lewis Communications to handle its advertising, the agency said.

Lewis bested incumbent Sullivan St. Clair and MDI, both in Mobile, Ala., following a review that began in July. Billings are $500,000.

The shop, with offices in Mobile and Birmingham, Ala., and Nashville, Tenn., will position the Mobile Bay area as a tourist and convention destination by touting the locale’s history, culture and progress.

Lewis leveraged its three years as lead agency for the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel to win the account, according to John Lewis, agency chairman.
