DALLAS McGarrah/Jessee has hired logo and typography specialist David Kampa to lead its in-house design shop Chaos, said partner Bryan Jessee.

Kampa will direct the Austin, Texas, design group's work for M/J clients like HEB's Central Market, Whataburger, Shiner Beer and Frost Bank, Jessee said.

Kampa was previously senior designer at Sibley/Peteet Design and has worked with a number of top designers at Texas Monthly magazine and Pirtle Design in Dallas.

A graduate of East Texas State University (now Texas A&M in Commerce, Texas), Kampa ran his own design studio in Austin for 15 years, working with a national roster including Nike, the National Basketball Association, the National Football League and Disney, as well as regional clients.

"Having a strong in-house design group is critical to our success in taking branding beyond advertising. We're extremely fortunate to have someone with David's impressive track record to oversee this vital function," said Jessee.
