NEW YORK JWT has hired Lowe's Robert Laub to become chief financial officer for the WPP Group agency's office here.
Laub, 48, fills a vacancy left by the September exit of Brian Quirke. He starts in mid-February and reports to worldwide CFO Lew Trencher.
New York is the headquarters of JWT and the second-largest office in terms of revenue, behind Detroit, which handles Ford, the agency's largest global client.
Laub spent more than six years at the New York office of Interpublic Group's Lowe, where he was both CFO and COO. Before that, he was at IPG's Ammirati Puris Lintas. (APL merged with Lowe in October 1999.)
Sal Taibi, who this week rose to New York president from director of client services, will absorb Laub's operational duties [Adweek Online, Jan. 18]. Lowe intends to fill the CFO's post, most likely from within, an agency representative said.
