LOS ANGELES Davidandgoliath has hired Ray Johnson as group creative director on the $270 million Kia Motors USA account.

Johnson, 48, was previously creative supervisor and senior vice president at Interpublic Group’s Lowe in New York. He spent five years at Lowe, where he wrote the Saab “State of independence” campaign and also worked on the GMC Trucks “We are professional grade” ad series.

Johnson started in his new position this week and reports to David Angelo, chairman and chief creative officer at the independent shop in Los Angeles.
