“One place, one thousand ideas” is the rallying cry created by Maris, West & Baker for PlanHouse, a home improvement Web site, magazine and retailer serving do-it-yourselfers.

The Mississippi-based company, which began as a magazine in 1983 devoted to all things residential, more recently added a Web site, where it offers advice on gardening, building and other home projects. It also provides consumers with listings of home supply vendors, who lease space on the site and in the store, set to open June 16 in Jackson, Miss.

A television and print campaign created by Eric Hughes, vice president and creative director at the Jackson agency, pokes fun at the hapless homeowner who begins renovation projects with more enthusiasm than sense.

“As always, we started by encapsulating the concept into a few words,” Hughes said.
