One of television’s most powerful content cops stopped by the Best Buy booth at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s annual convention in San Francisco last week to see how consumers can block programming they find offensive. Unfortunately for TV execs, Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) went away unconvinced, his stance just one of several indications that cable’s brush with content regulation may be far from over.

New Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin did not use his appearance at NCTA—his first since becoming chairman last month—to repeat his call for family-friendly content tiers or à la carte channel offerings.
