LOS ANGELES -- Ad effectiveness consultant Intermedia Advertising Group, New York, named Cheryl Idell its first president. IAG also announced that Steven Walsh, head of business development for CMR, joined the company as vice president of sales.
Idell, 37, is an advertising veteran widely considered one of the most astute media thinkers in the U.S. She joined IAG 14 months ago as chief strategic and research officer from Initiative Media North America, where she was svp/chief strategic officer. Walsh, also 37, was most recently head of new business development for syndicated research firm CMR and also served in new business and new product posts at Nielsen Media Research.
"We just created the president position and Cheryl is the best person in the industry to fill it," said Alan Gould, IAG co-CEO. "Nobody knows more about ad effectiveness. Steve ran new business at CMR and worked on a new product launch at Nielsen. Very few people have experience selling both syndicated data and new products."
