Digitas Adds FleetBoston, Terra LycosBOSTON—Digitas has been selected by Terra Lycos to develop and implement a global e-commerce plan in the Spanish and Portuguese markets; the budget was not disclosed. Separately, Digitas has been hired by FleetBoston Financial for an estimated $5-7 million in online chores, sources said. Agency and client officials declined comment on Friday. Digitas bested the Cambridge, Mass., offices of Agency.com and Razorfish in a review. Zentropy Partners, Cambridge, had been working with FleetBoston, which Digitas will now handle out of its headquarters here. The agency will work on Terra Lycos from its Latin American office in Miami. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, Terra Lycos was formed through the merger of Terra Networks and Lycos Network. Supreme Court to Review Tobacco Ad LawsBOSTON—The U.S. Supreme Court last week said it will review strict new outdoor-advertising rules in Massachusetts that aim to keep ads for tobacco products out of the view of children. Justices will hear a pair of appeals from Philip Morris Cos., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco and other big tobacco firms. The companies claim the rules prohibit virtually all outdoor tobacco ads in the Bay State. Ryka, 2 Others Select Kelliher for AdvertisingBOSTON—Kelliher Samets Volk has been selected by women's athletic footwear brand Ryka for a national marketing campaign and Web-site enhancement. The agency in Burlington, Vt., also added Vermont clients Champlain College and Clarion Hotel. Combined, the three pieces of business are worth about $3 million. Joseph Shanley, 78; Averil Lashley, 58BOSTON— Joseph Shanley, a long-time partner at Duffy & Shanley, died recently after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 78. In 1973, Shanley joined current agency chairman David Duffy to form Providence, R.I.-based D&S. Shanley was a partner for 14 years until he retired in 1987 ... Averil Lashley died Jan. 5 at the age of 58. Lashley ran public relations firm Lashley & Co. in Boston.
