A Boston Beer Taps McCarthy
BOSTON–Boston Beer Co., brewer of Samuel Adams, and McCann-Erickson WorldGroup have separated. The client spent about $3 million on advertising in the first six months of this year. Boston Beer representative Lucy Sholley said her company has been working in recent months with the McCarthy Group in Princeton, N.J., helmed by Joe McCarthy, former worldwide ad director for Nike and a consultant to Leo Burnett in Chicago. McCann, which created Sam Adams’ current ads tagged, “It’s what’s inside,” won the account in 1997 following a review, becoming the brewer’s fourth agency in six years.
