BMW Seeks Minority Shop
NEW YORK--BMW is sending out requests for proposals to shops with expertise in minority and diversity marketing. "It's a small project aimed at a diverse market," a source said. BMW is looking for ideas to "diversify their constituency," said the source, who described the project as "limited in scope." Westwood, N.J.-based BMW's lead agency is Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis.
Lexon Maps Out Foursome
CHICAGO--Lexon Technologies has narrowed its review to four finalists. Young & Rubicam, Jordan Tamraz Caruso, both here, Tucker Knapp Integrated Marketing Communications in Schaumburg, Ill., and BVK/McDonald in Milwaukee will compete for the Downers Grove, Ill.-based company's $8-10 million assignment to advertise its new National Atlas of the United States.
CP&B Snares Schwinn Work
ATLANTA--Crispin Porter & Bogusky has picked up creative print projects for Schwinn Bicycles. Schwinn senior vice president of marketing Gregg Bagni said the creative portion of the account would not shift to the Miami shop from Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis, saying, "We're pleased with both agencies." CP&B is currently agency of record for GT Bicycles, owned by Boulder, Colo.-based Schwinn.
D'Arcy Unit Wins Flagstar Bank
CHICAGO--D'Arcy Detroit's boutique agency, d'arcy, has been selected as agency of record for Flagstar Bank's new bankave.com Internet site. The shop will design the site and create advertising for the Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based bank's new initiative. The financial service site will launch later this fall.
Domino's Slices Review Field
CHICAGO--Domino's Pizza has narrowed the search for the creative portion of its $80 million national ad account to J. Walter Thompson's Chicago and Detroit offices and Deutsch in New York, a company representative said. The two shops will be given creative assignments and will be evaluated not only on their final product but also on their creative process; a decision is expected by Dec. 1, said company representative Tim McIntyre. Minneapolis incumbent Campbell Mithun Esty "elected not to participate further in the review," McIntyre said. The review will not affect the Ann Arbor, Mich., company's regional advertising and media buying account at JWT Detroit or its minority advertising assignment at Don Coleman Advertising in Detroit.
Barton Hops to Cramer-Krasselt
CHICAGO--Barton Beers has moved its ad assignment to Cramer-Krasselt here, parting with financially troubled Lois USA and its defunct Chicago unit, Fogarty Klein & Partners 312. Barton imports Modelo Brewery brands including Corona and Corona Light in 25 western states. Total spending on Corona, which is handled in the East by The Richards Group in Dallas, is about $20 million.
