A Hooper Joins Trahan, Burden & Charles ATLANTA--William E. Hooper has been named chairman of Trahan, Burden & Charles. Hooper, who served as president of W.B. Doner in Baltimore from 1984 to 1990, has worked as an independent marketing communications consultant for the past decade. In January, he was hired by TBC for an internal review to provide objective suggestions on ways the Baltimore shop could improve productivity. After months studying the $135 million firm, Hooper was "persuaded to return to agency work by TBC's potential." He will be responsible for growing agency revenue, currently at $15 million, and managing day-to-day operations. A Richards Wins Pinehurst Resorts Tourney DALLAS--The Richards Group topped two Southeast shops for Pinehurst Co.'s $3 million consolidated account. The Pinehurst, N.C.-based organization chose the Dallas agency over Price/McNabb in Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta's Austin Kelley Advertising for a company-wide branding effort to promote its five golfing resorts. All three agencies had previously worked with individual Pinehurst locations. The consolidation of Pinehurst's advertising follows the lead of parent company ClubCorp in Dallas. ClubCorp operates 243 properties and has begun promoting its brand over the individual sites. A Marc USA/Miami Tallies $5 Mil. in Billings ATLANTA--Marc USA/Miami, formerly E&F/Marc Advertising, has acquired two clients with $5 million in combined billings. Everything Wireless, a direct marketer of communications products and services, is based in Hollywood, Fla. Green2go.com of Coral Gables, Fla., is an e-commerce site selling lawn and garden products to landscape professionals and hobbyists. A D.C. Metro Rides With Laughlin, Marinaccio ATLANTA--The Washington [D.C.] Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, or Metro, has appointed Laughlin, Marinaccio & Owens agency of record following a review. The contract, effective July 1, is for three years at an estimated $2 million per annum, with two one-year renewable options. Eleven agencies in the Washington/Baltimore region competed, including incumbent Kershner & Co., Alexandria, Va., before the Arlington, Va., shop was chosen from four finalists. Agency president Doug Laughlin said it was undetermined whether a new fall campaign would continue with the current tag, "The future is riding on Metro." A Mullen Claims Account of Sesame Workshop BOSTON--Preparing for a rebranding push, Sesame Workshop, formerly the Children's Television Workshop, has awarded Mullen its $4-5 million ad and marketing business. The New York-based client considered 12 agencies in a three-month review conducted by Noral Group, Washington, D.C. Following several face-to-face meetings, "just Big Bird and Mullen were left," said Mullen founding creative officer Paul Silverman. Sherrie Rollins Westin, client executive vice president of marketing communications, praised the Wenham, Mass., agency's brand identity record with clients Monster.com and Nickelodeon.
