Amtech Systems Selects 4 Finalists
DALLAS--An agency search by Amtech Systems, a division of Intermec Technologies Corp., has been narrowed to four finalists. The Dallas-based company, a developer of wireless data technologies, declined to reveal the identities of the final four contenders. BSMG Worldwide/Southwest in Irving, Texas, is the incumbent agency and is defending the account. A decision is expected within the next two weeks. "We need a new agency that is a good fit for our business and our needs," said Barb Catlin, media relations manager at Amtech Systems. Annual billings are estimated at $500,000.
Launch, BSMG to Intro PurchasePooling.com
DALLAS--PurchasePooling.com, a Web-based purchasing aggregation for business and government markets, has selected Launch Partnership to handle its advertising programs. Irving, Texas-based Launch is a full-service agency that focuses on creating brand identities primarily for startup companies. Launch will work alongside another True North company in Irving, BSMG Worldwide/Southwest, which will handle marketing communications. Billings were not disclosed. The client is located in Dallas.
Hybrid Creates Virtual Coffee Lounge
DALLAS--Hybrid, a digital strategy and design shop, this week launches Morningstar Foods' Coffee House of International Delight venue on the Web. The site offers a "virtual coffee lounge" experience. Mood music and information on the history of coffee promote the International Delight brand of creamers. Both the client and agency are based in Dallas.
Garelick Awards New Project to Connelly
BOSTON--Connelly & Partners, a creative boutique recently launched by former Ingalls president Steve Connelly, has added an advertising assignment from Garelick Farms. The scope of work has not been determined, but a client official said Connelly will assist with branding chores. DDB Dallas, which has been working with Garelick, a unit of Suiza Foods of Dallas, will likely remain aboard for the dairy's milk brands. Spending was not disclosed.
Insurance Experts Tests Southern Markets
BOSTON--Insurance Experts has selected Latus, Szostakowski + Mensing to introduce its customized life insurance plans for people with pre-existing medical conditions. The Boston agency is testing a mix of television, radio and print elements to introduce the client to upscale markets in the Southwest and Southeast.
Miami's Gold Coast Advertising Glitters Anew
ATLANTA--Gold Coast Advertising enjoyed bigger percentage gains in billings and revenue last year than any Southeast agency. The Miami shop was ranked 30th in the Southeast in 1999, with $10 million in revenue and $83 million in billings, both 80 percent increases. Gold Coast's resurgence coincides with the return of Office Depot, its longtime signature client. The retailer left two years ago to work with a series of agencies before re-signing with the shop last October
