New Creative Head at TFA/Leo Burnett SW
DALLAS--Michael Coffin has been tapped to fill the newly created position of vice president and creative director at TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group Southwest. Coffin will be responsible for all creative direction at the Austin, Texas-based agency. Prior to joining TFA/Leo Burnett, he was associate creative director at GSD&M, where he worked on the Southwestern Bell Wireless, Power Computing and Seiko Communications accounts.
Pearle Vision Launches Hispanic Radio Ads
DALLAS--K. Fernandez & Associates this month launched a Spanish-language radio campaign in the Chicago market for eyeglass retailer Pearle Vision. The San Antonio-based agency developed the "Nadie cuida tus ojos como Pearle" ("Nobody cares for your eyes like Pearle") tagline in conjunction with its creative boutique, A Big Chihuahua. Fernandez was tapped for the assignment by the Twinsburg, Ohio, client's general market agency, Barkley Evergreen & Partners in Kansas City, Mo.
2 Tech Clients Go to Michael & Partners
DALLAS--Michael & Parnters has been assigned the advertising and public relations account of ViewCast.com, a provider of Internet and networked video solutions. The publicly traded, Dallas-based client markets products primarily used in digital streaming video applications on the Internet. The Dallas agency has also obtained the public relations account of Bicom, a Monroe, Conn., manufacturer of voice and fax processing platforms. Billings for the accounts were not disclosed.
Land Rover Contacts 9 for Creative Account
ATLANTA--Land Rover has sent requests for proposals to nine agencies concerning its $30 million creative account. Search consultant Richard Roth of Chappaqua, N.Y., said a short list will be compiled by mid-February, followed by agency visits. Three finalists will be heard before the March 24 decision date. The agencies are: Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami; WestWayne, Atlanta and Tampa, Fla.; GSD&M, Austin, Texas; The Richards Group, Dallas; Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston; and New York shops Gotham, Hampel/Stefanides, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners and M&C Saatchi. New York incumbent Grace & Rothschild will not defend.
BBDO South Breaks First Simmons Work
ATLANTA--BBDO South has released its first work introducing Simmons' redesigned Beautyrest mattress. The campaign's initial print ad, headlined "For the first time in decades, the mattress industry won't have to talk about the same old thing," appears in today's edition of Furniture Today. Consumer television ads by the Atlanta agency will break in the spring.
Nationwide's 'Bama-Georgia Co-op Thinks Big
