Mattel Seeking Agency for New Toy Line
SAN FRANCISCO--Mattel Corp., El Segundo, Calif., is in the initial stages of a search for one or more agencies to handle advertising for a new line of "PC-based toys" currently under development, said sources. The client declined to comment. Mattel designers have been working on the new line with engineers from Intel Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., for most of this year. Sources said the toys will be ready for the 1999 holiday season.
Clauson to Depart Foote, Cone & Belding
SAN FRANCISCO--Dave Clauson, senior vice president and group management supervisor at Foote, Cone & Belding here is leaving the agency to pursue other interests. Clauson had managed the estimated $80-90 million 3Com Corp. business for FCB. A replacement has not yet been named, according to agency president and chief executive officer Jack Boland.
Berry-Brown Brings Daisy to California
DALLAS--Berry-Brown Advertising here is fronting longtime client Daisy Sour Cream's product launch into California with a pair of ads that also introduce the brand's new mascot, a cow named Daisy. A 15-second teaser and an accompanying 30-second spot break today in Los Angeles, San Diego and Bakersfield. Billings were undisclosed. Dallas-based Daisy, which now markets in 32 states, has spent about $1 million annually in recent years, per Competitive Media Reporting.
Egghead.com Taps Digital Pulp
LOS ANGELES--Egghead.com, Spokane, Wash., has awarded its estimated $10 million account to Digital Pulp, San Francisco and New York, after a review. Other contenders for the creative, media and interactive business included Think New Ideas, New York and Los Angeles, and Moffatt/Rosenthal, Portland, Ore. The computer software and hardware retailer closed the last of its physical stores earlier this year and shifted its entire computer retail operation to the Internet.
Think Wins Trio of Assignments
LOS ANGELES--Think New Ideas' Los Angeles office has picked up ad duties for Dallas-based 7th Level after a review of undisclosed shops. Billings for the software account are estimated in the $1-2 million range. The agency will also create a TV and print branding campaign for Richardson, Texas-based Micrografx, and handle interactive assignments for Minute Maid's Bacardi mixers.
