More Promus Participants Emerge
DALLAS - Ammirati Puris Lintas and Deutsch, both New York, are among the shops scheduled to meet with executives of Promus Hotel Corp. in Memphis, Tenn., about a possible consolidation of the company's $40 million ad account, sources said. Executives at those agencies declined comment; Promus officials could not be reached. The other contenders are: Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos and Arnold Communications, both Boston; TBWA Chiat/Day, New York; Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago; and incumbents DDB Needham, Dallas, and GSD&M, Austin, Texas. A decision is expected in June.
Partners Duels for NDB, Dictaphone
BOSTON - Partners & Simons here faces shootouts in reviews for the $10-12 million account of National Discount Brokers in New York and the $4 million account of Dictaphone Corp. in Stamford, Conn. DiNoto Lee in New York withdrew from the NDB review, leaving Partners and Stein Rogan & Partners in New York as the remaining competitors. Dictaphone last week whittled its list of contenders to Partners and Weiss, Whitten, Stagliano in New York, sources said.
Irma S. Mann Scores Massport Contract
BOSTON - Following a state-mandated review, Irma S. Mann, Strategic Marketing here has won the $1 million advertising account of the Massachusetts Port Authority. The finalists were: CC and Communications in Boston; Harpell/Martins & Co. in Maynard, Mass.; and incumbent Greenberg Seronick O'Leary & Partners in Boston. Massport executive director Peter Blute cited Irma S. Mann's travel expertise as the decisive factor. The 70-person shop works for the Islands of the Bahamas and the Metropolitan Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau. The three-year contract starts July 1.
Henderson Departs Ingalls PR
BOSTON - Barbara Henderson, managing director of Ingalls Public Relations for nearly two years, has left the six-person operation to pursue a job opportunity in San Francisco, an agency representative confirmed last week. Henderson could not be reached for comment. Her replacement is being sought to oversee projects for clients including Raytheon, for which affiliated shop Ingalls Advertising serves as lead agency on media advertising, the representative said.
Scaros Bought by Lois/USA
BOSTON - Lois/USA has acquired Scaros & Casselman in Stamford, Conn., and will merge the shop with its Lois/EJL operation in New York. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Scaros & Casselman chief executive Dean Scaros becomes president and chief executive officer of Lois/EJL; Ted Veru, who relinquishes the presidency to Scaros, continues as co-chief executive. Scaros & Casselman creative director Paul Regan is freelancing and relocating to the Boston area. Among the clients Scaros & Casselman brings into the Lois/EJL fold are Hiram Walker & Sons' Cutty Sark Scotch, Allied Domencq and Caldor.
