Baltimore's Fast Wins Koons Ford
ATLANTA--Koons Ford of Annapolis (Md.) has awarded its primarily broadcast advertising account to Fast & Associates (F&A) of Baltimore. Billings were not disclosed, but sources estimated it between $500,000 to $1 million. F&A won the account over undisclosed shops, according to agency president Jared Fast. Television and print, sporting the new "Your Ford, your price, your dealer" tag, broke last month to support new car sales for the client's Ford and Pontiac dealerships in Annapolis and Tyson Corners, Va. Koons Ford owner Joe Koons is brother to Jim Koons, proprietor of automotive dealership Jim Koons Management Co. That advertising account was recently resigned by Williams Whittle Associates in Alexandria, Va.

DALLAS--Levenson & Hill here was selected last week as the first agency for Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon of Wichita, Kan. Levenson, which in December lost its Churchs Chicken account, will handle unspecified duties on the estimated $8-12 million business. Agency officials declined comment on the account acquisition. The client would confirm neither the budget nor scope of assignments for its 306 Lone Star units, plus three Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House and five Sullivan's Steakhouse restaurants. Other shops in the review--which was reopened to new contenders in April--were McCann-Erickson, Houston; The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; and Fallon McElligott, DeVito Verdi and Earle Palmer Brown, all in New York.

Ragin' Ribs Restaurant Taps Florida Startup
ATLANTA--Harman/Hettig Marketing & Promotions was hired to launch Ragin' Ribs, a new franchise group headed by restaurant veteran Jim Cheatham, a one-time Wendy's franchise president. The Tampa, Fla., client will open its fifth restaurant in the Tampa area this month, with plans to move into Orlando, Fla., and South Florida, said Candy Harman, co-president of Harman/Hettig. Ragin' Ribs serves ribs, roast chicken, salads and other items in a quick-service setting for dine-in, take-out or home delivery. Harman/Hettig is developing an animated character from the "g" in the word Ragin' for the fledgling chain's ad campaign. The agency gained the estimated $500,000-plus account without a review, said Harman. She and partner Kate Hettig, both with media sales backgrounds, set up shop six months ago in Largo, Fla. Other clients include the Los Angeles Police Protective League and Saturn Dealers of Pinellas County (Fla.).
