Field Narrows in Choice Hotels' Review

ATLANTA—Choice Hotels International has narrowed the field in its $35-40 million review from nine shops to four. Doner will be pitching the Silver Spring, Md.-based client from its Baltimore and Southfield, Mich., offices; Arnold Communications' McLean, Va., unit is also among the contenders. Two agencies, said to be from New York, remain undisclosed. Incumbent Gray, Kirk/VanSant in Baltimore will not defend.

Clarke Advertising Wins FCCI Insurance

ATLANTA—Clarke Advertising & Public Relations has won the account of the FCCI Insurance Group. The Sarasota, Fla., agency will create a corporate identity for the insuror, which recently merged with Monroe Guaranty Companies of Carmel, Ind. The combined operation will extend through Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and the Midwest, including Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan. The organization will be headquarter in Sarasota. Billings are undisclosed.

Just Partners Acquires Virginia Tourism

ATLANTA—Just Partners has won the estimated $4 million advertising account of the Virginia Tourism Corp. The Richmond, Va., shop's efforts, led by founding partner John Boatwright, who managed the state's "Virginia is for lovers" campaign in 1969, will include broadcast, print and collateral advertising.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Awards Account

ATLANTA—The Chesapeake Bay Bridge and TunnelDistrict has appointed Hambright, Calcagno & Downing to handle its marketing efforts through 2003. The Cape Charles, Va., shop bested seven local and regional agencies for the district's account, which will include print, broadcast, interactive and media buying duties.

PetsMart Assigns Creative to Doner

DETROIT—Doner came out in top in PetsMart's$20-25 million creative review. The Southfield, Mich., shop bested incumbent Publicis in the West, Seattle, and finalists The Richards Group, Dallas; Campbell-Ewald/West, Los Angeles; and Leo Burnett, Chicago. Select Resources International in Los Angeles oversaw the review for the Phoenix-based retailer. The client is beginning a separate media review.

Morgan Tire Picks Minneapolis Agency

CHICAGO—Morgan Tire has awarded creative duties on its $30 million ad account to Kruskopf Olson. The Minneapolis agency, whose Tires Plus client was acquired by Morgan Tires earlier this year, will be responsible for rebranding all of the Manassas, Va., firm's stores under the Tires Plus Total Car Care banner. Media will be handled by Haworth Marketing & Media in Minneapolis.

HTVN Retains Fleishman-Hillard for PR

DALLAS—Hispanic Television Network, the nation's third-largest Spanish-language network, has named Fleishman-Hillard its public relations agency. The account, which will be serviced at the agency's Texas offices in Dallas, Austin and Houston, will include Hispanic marketing, corporate positioning and investor relations.
