NEW YORK Interpublic Group-owned Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos has hired John Dukakis as svp, director of branded entertainment, a new position.

Dukakis is the son of Michael Dukakis, the Democratic presidential nominee in 1988 and former Massachusetts governor. His aunt is film actress Olympia Dukakis.

Before joining Boston-based Hill, Holliday, John Dukakis was evp at Overbrook, a full-service multimedia production and personal-management company owned and operated by actor Will Smith and producer James Lassiter. John Dukakis previously oversaw the management company Southpaw Entertainment. Its client roster included Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson and Vanessa Williams. Prior to that, he served as general manager of Paisley Park Records, a joint venture between Prince and Warner Bros.

Baba Shetty, evp, chief media officer at Hill, Holliday, said: "These days we're not just buying media—we're often creating media, and branded entertainment is an increasingly important part of the mix. Working alongside our creative and media teams, John will build innovative programs."

Added John Dukakis: "I hope to help make Hill, Holliday a top destination for brands interested in expanding their reach on the Web and in film and television." He is currently working on several entertainment projects that will come to fruition in 2008.
