Over the last few years, the furious competition between Louisiana and Mississippi casinos has triggered a barrage of nasty billboards by Gulf Coast gaming operators.
This summer New Orleans struck back.
Harrah’s erected a board on the interstate between the Big Easy and the Gulf Coast, declaring: “Biloxi. Rhymes with bad lucksy, –Play New Orleans!”
Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway, whose city hosts some of Mississippi’s richest gaming facilities, was furious. He phoned Harrah’s brass, raging that the billboard was a cheap shot.
Ironically, it was Mississippi interests that started the war.
