BOSTON Havas today in a statement said it has asked shareholder Vincent Bolloré to confirm his intention to nominate candidates to the company’s board of directors.

Bolloré in December said he would seek seats on the board of the Paris-based holding company, in which he holds an estimated 22 percent stake. Bolloré has also said he has no immediate plan to attempt a corporate takeover.

Sources called the statement an effort by Havas to force Bolloré to show his hand, and said he will likely put forth candidates within the next two weeks, in time for consideration at the next scheduled shareholders meeting on June 9.
