GTE Wireless is currently reviewing roster agencies, including Bates Southwest in Houston, for a consolidated regional account in the Midwest and Southeast, according to sources.
Insiders said GTE Wireless is combining multi-state marketing efforts currently housed in Cleveland, Indianapolis and Richmond, Va. Bates serves the business based in Indianapolis, which was GTE’s first cellular market in 1984.
The account size was unavailable, but statewide billings for GTE Wireless in Virginia alone were previously reported at $2-5 million.
It was unclear whether the review was being headed by regional GTE offices or GTE Wireless (formerly GTE Mobilnet) headquarters in Atlanta.
