Creative Staffers Advance to Senior VPs, Gain Say in Austin Shop
DALLAS–In a move designed to broaden its leadership ranks, GSD&M promoted seven creative directors to senior vice president positions and gave them an added voice in management issues at the Austin, Texas, shop.
Moving up are Joan Lyons, Daniel Russ, Brian Brooker, Tom Gilmore, Rich Terry, David Crawford and Brent Ladd. Since the January 1997 departure of executive creative director Guy Bommarito, the creative directors have had responsibility for their client-dedicated teams.
Although Bommarito maintains a consulting relationship with GSD&M and sometimes screens staffers’ work, agency president Roy Spence said he is committed to the concept of empowering small groups rather than having an executive creative director oversee the shop’s output.
