DALLAS The GSD&M team led by Tom Gilmore and Rich Tlapek will handle creative duties on the Omnicom shop's new Tostitos account. David Eiben, who joined the shop after leaving Fallon last month, will head the account service side, the agency said.

This morning GSD&M confirmed it picked up the Tostitos account, which shifts from sibling BBDO in New York.

Sources said last spring Frito-Lay asked the Austin, Texas-based agency to create a spot for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2 and requested BBDO do the same. That work and ads produced by BBDO in New York have been in "testing" for months, according to sources.

The Plano, Texas-based client not only chose GSD&M's work for the bowl game, but also decided to give the account to the agency, sources said.

Gilmore and Tlapek's team developed the Tostitos spot that won the creative shootout. The group also works on the accounts of Schwab, the PGA Tour and CBS Sports.

Eiben worked on the United Airlines and Starbucks accounts while at Publicis Groupe's Fallon in Minneapolis from October 2000 until last month. He has also worked at Omnicom's Martin/Williams in Minneapolis.

Frito-Lay has spent $30 million this year through October to advertise Tostitos, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
