GOTHAM: HOLD THE CHEESE

There's nothing wrong with the new T-shirts that Gotham designed for its running team in the 1997 Chase Corporate Challenge 3.5-mile road race, but they aren't quite as interesting as the first T-shirt design, which agency chiefs rejected.

Gotham group head and creative director Michael Jordan (no relation to the Chicago Bulls player) got the OK for shirts featuring Batman comic strip speech bubbles--'Pow!' and 'Bam!' for instance--on the front of the shirt (design shown below). The New York agency's logo graces the back.

The rejected shirt design featured a square hunk of Swiss cheese on the front and a distortion of the logo on the back that presented the agency's name--in a spoof of the Goodby, Silverstein & Partners milk campaign--like this: GOT HAM?
