Goodby, Fallon Lead Emmy Nominations

NEW YORK Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Fallon each garnered two of the six Emmy nominations for outstanding commercial from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences today.

Goodby in San Francisco was nominated for "Born a Donkey," a spot for Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser that shows a donkey aspiring to be a Budweiser Clydesdsale. The agency was also recognized for "Door Music" on behalf of Saturn. The spot presents objects such as a ball, grocery store cart and a cyclist bouncing off a Saturn car.

Fallon in Minneapolis was nominated for "Interview" for United Airlines, an animated spot showing a man going to a job interview, and Citibank's "Outfit," which depicts a man in an easy chair talking about fancy clothes. A woman's voiceover is dubbed over his.

Young & Rubicam in Chicago was nominated for Miller's "Dominoes," which shows a long line of people falling in domino-like fashion until two Miller drinkers step out of the way. DDB in Chicago was recognized for "Rubberband Man" for Office Max, featuring an office worker dancing as he delivers supplies.

The winner will be named on Sept. 12 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Last year's winner was Fallon in Minneapolis for a PBS ad showing a goldfish's journey to a river.
