After spending a decade in Southern California, Stacey Gomoljak is looking forward to a few cultural changes in New York City. For instance, the self-proclaimed music lover is looking forward to taking in the city's robust scene.
"Almost any musical act comes through New York City," said Gomoljak, who recently began work as a vice president at Alan Taylor Communications in New York. "[I'm] looking forward to seeing a lot of bands."
An East Coast native, Gomoljak, 32, said she had long been looking for the opportunity to work in the Big Apple. Alan Taylor's "energy, passion and culture" lured her there.
At the independent firm, which specializes in lifestyle and sports public relations, Gomoljak will work across most accounts—including MasterCard and 4Kids Entertainment—helping determine communications strategies, guiding creative direction and leading various teams, while also working on new business. She reports to managing partner Erin Weinberg.
"Stacey's passion and enthusiasm makes her a perfect fit for our culture and was something that was obvious from the first time we met her," said Weinberg.
Prior to Alan Taylor, the Annapolis, Md., native was director of communications for a year and a half at Mattel in El Segundo, Calif. Before that, Gomoljak was a senior account supervisor at Interpublic Group's Golin/Harris International for six years.
"I understand what they go through, having been a client. I understand promotions and advertising, and how that fits into PR," she said. "It makes you a more well-rounded PR professional to have had in-house experience."
The 1994 graduate of the University of Maryland is already happily settled. "[Alan Taylor] is just an amazingly creative and nurturing environment to be in ... I'm excited about the opportunity," she said.
