Years ago that a superstition about rabbits being bad luck was reinforced in a small England town, when the ground gave way under a crane due to rabbit burrows, causing a fatal accident. The people of Portland, in Dorset, have maintained that superstition ever since, and will not utter the word rabbit, preferring to call the animals “underground mutton” or “furry things.” No wonder, then, that they reacted strongly to the new movie Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
