Fuji Eyes 5 for Photo Film PR

BOSTON Five agencies have reached the semifinal round of a review for the public relations account of Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., according to the consultant overseeing the process.

Competing are 21-year incumbent Edelman PR, Stanton Crenshaw Communications and Text 100, all independents; Grey Global Group's GCI Group; and WPP's Cohn & Wolfe, said Smooch Reynolds, president of management consultancy Repovich Reynolds Group in Pasadena, Calif. All of the contenders are based in New York.

The Elmsford, N.Y., client is seeking an agency for a variety of PR activities, including the promotion of its imaging, audio and video products nationwide. Spending has not been determined.

The five shops will make presentations to the client at the end of the month, with two or three finalists named shortly thereafter. The review is set to conclude in June.

The client's advertising is handled by Publicis in New York, and the company spent $12 million on measured media in 2002, per CMR.
