NEW YORK After five years at Cliff Freeman and Partners, Dan Morales has been promoted to vice president, creative director at the independent shop, the agency said.

Morales is now the senior-most creative behind agency founders Cliff Freeman and ecd Arthur Bijur. The promotion comes toward the end of a year in which the agency lost several accounts and saw the departure of junior and senior staffers across all disciplines.

Still, Freeman considers the shop to be in a rebuilding mode, saying in a statement, "Dan has done an incredible job for the agency in his tenure. He has won numerous awards by creating wonderful campaigns for some great brands as well as building brands for lesser-known companies. We expect him to bring a new approach and direction to our creative group."

Before joining Cliff Freeman, Morales, 33, worked at Black Rocket in San Francisco. Among the former clients he worked on at the New York agency are Coca-Cola, Budget Rent A Car, Mike's Hard Lemonade, Staples, Quiznos, and Ben & Jerry's.

Others who have joined the creative department in recent weeks are John Garguilo from Merkley Newman Harty & Partners in New York and three recent graduates of the Miami Ad School—Nathan Frank, Hunter Fine and Matthew Woodhams.

The agency's current clients are Value City, DSW and Mohegan Sun.
