Wyndham Resorts has reduced the field for its $5 million-plus account to four agencies, including three Florida shops, according to sources close to the review process.
In the final round, Harris Drury Cohen in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and The Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, Fla., will compete against incumbent Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown in Orlando, Fla., and Wyndham roster shop The Richards Group in Dallas.
Executives at Zimmerman and HDC confirmed that they were finalists. They referred other queries to the client, which could not be reached at press time.
Both agencies have travel and hospitality experience. Zimmerman works for Interstate Hotels, New York's Roosevelt Hotel and Bahamian resort The Lucayan, among others. HDC handled Atlantis Resort & Casino in the Bahamas until recently, when the account was moved to Ground Zero, Santa Monica, Calif. [Adweek, April 6].
Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown and Richards automatically advanced to the final round. The latter, agency of record for Wyndham Hotels and Wyndham Garden Ho-tels, also does corporate branding for the client. Gary Pugatch, vice president of sales and marketing for the resort division, has said Richards will continue with its current business no matter what the decision is on the Wyndham Resorts account.
Sources said Wyndham Resorts is looking at global expansion beyond its Caribbean properties.
Finalists will receive creative and strategic assignments for the presentations, set for mid-May, sources said. The client confirmed the review last month [Adweek, March 30].
A decision is imminent following presentations to the client.
