As part of its continuing effort to achieve profitability by Q4 2001, Emeryville, Calif.-based Ask Jeeves on Tuesday announced its acquisition of key assets of eTour. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquired assets of the direct marketing and Internet media company include eTour’s Web property itself–with more than 4.5 million registered users–the Web site’s delivery engine, proprietary direct marketing technology, registration system and more than 230 vertical Web sites. ETour also boasts a strong base of mainly traditional advertisers including Coca-Cola, Mercedes, Nestle and Purina that will help bolster Ask Jeeves current advertising roster.
