NEW YORK Eight O’Clock Coffee has selected Publicis Groupe’s The Kaplan Thaler Group to handle creative duties on its estimated $7 million account, sources said. Media duties have been awarded to independent TargetCast-TCM, said sources.

The creative winner bested two other New York finalists: Omnicom Group’s DDB and MDC Partners’ Margeotes|Fertitta + Partners. Those three shops competed for both creative and media duties. TargetCast-TCM in New York only pursued the media piece.

Final presentations took place late last month over two days.
