Circus Circus Enterprises has awarded the estimated $15-20 million advertising account for its Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino property to DRGM in Las Vegas.
The other contenders were not disclosed. To avoid a conflict, the shop has resigned its estimated $5 million MGM Grand Hotel & Casino business. MGM Grand has begun a nationwide search for an agency to handle its creative and media account, according to a client representative.
DRGM will handle both media and creative duties for Mandalay Bay, which is scheduled to open for business on the Las Vegas Strip next year.
"[DRGM] had extensive experience in the casino industry as well as with opening new properties," said Mandalay Bay vice president of marketing Jack Leone. "They had a full package of capabilities for what we were looking for."
John Marz, Circus Circus' corporate vice president of marketing, headed the review with Leone. Marz, who joined the client last month, previously served as DRGM's president and chief operating officer.
DRGM will continue to handle MGM Grand's ad duties until a new agency is selected.
Separately, another Las Vegas landmark, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, is currently talking with small creative shops about project work.
